There are no trout in Lady Evelyn Lake but there are backcountry portage lakes with boats that have are stuffed with Lake Trout. Auld Reekie Lodge is located 3 hours north of North Bay near the town of Gowganda and located on Gowganda Lake. Gowganda Lake is a spring-fed rocky Canadian Shield lake that has deep stops going down to 150 feet deep. The lake produces some really nice Lake Trout and their guests enjoy catching them up to 10 pounds in the spring when fishing for other species. Auld Reekie Lodge never promoted the Lake Trout fishing so virtually nobody has fished the lake in the summer. The lake is big enough to produce 40 pounders and the population is high due to next to zero trout fishing. Auld Reekie does have a few backcountry lakes that are stuffed with Brook Trout, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout and even a lake with Aurora Trout. These lakes are canoe-only spring-fed lakes and well worth the walk in. They have beautiful lakefront cottages along with a main restaurant and British Pub style bar. They offer American Plan, European Plan and housekeeping plan.

Vermilion Bay Lodge: on Eagle Lake in Northwestern Ontario is a fabulous Canadian destination for giant trophy Lake Trout. The lodge is located at the North-west end of the lake, which is the deepest part of the lake and has the best Lake Trout fishing. Lake Trout from 1 to 30 pounds are being caught. With 8 comfortable housekeeping cabins and a main lodge overlooking beautiful Eagle Lake we offer personal service with over 30 years of experience serving fishermen and families. Olive The Lake Lodge is a family cottage rental resort and fishing lodge located on the Marten River, which is between North Bay & Temagami. There are a few deep holes along the Marten River where there are Lake Trout but they are rare. There are many drive-to lakes in the area with great Lake Trout fishing. The best lakes close to their lodge are Marten Lake, Red Cedar Lake, Rabbit Lake, Net Lake, Lake Temagami and Jumping Caribou Lake. Lake Trout are available in many sizes from nice pan-fryers to gigantic 35-pound Monsters. Their clean lakeside cabins are warm and cozy and fully equipped for housekeeping.

Indian Point Camp is located on the shore of Wabigoon Lake. Wabigoon Lake is too shallow for Lake Trout. However, there are several lakes within a short driving distance that have excellent Lake Trout fishing. The trout in these lakes are common in the 1 to 4-pound range, which are the best eating sizes. On occasion bigger trout in the 5 to 10-pound range do get caught. These lakes are so rarely fished that it's hard to tell what is swimming around. Spending a day on a backcountry trout lake is a lot of fun and adds to the adventre of your vacation. Indian Point Camp has cozy housekeeping cottages with fully equipped kitchens. The camp also offers a weekly complementary buffet featuring delicious home-cooking. Fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Muskie, Northern Pike, Perch and Crappie is also excellent.

Sandy Point Camp is located on Kawashegamuk Lake, which is between Dryden and Ignace, Ontario and in the deep wilderness. They have outstanding fishing for Lake Trout. They also have boat caches on 9 surrounding lakes, which will give you the opportunity to have a variety of fishing experiences. Lake Trout are the dominant species in the lake and guests often go out and catch 5 to 10 Lake Trout n an afternoon. Lake Trout are common in the 1 to 8 pound range but lots of Lake Trout in the 10 to 25-pound range get caught and released all summer lodge. They have really nice housekeeping lakeside cabins and new boats & motors. Kawashegamuk Lake is one of Ontario's best hotspots for trophy Lake Trout fishing.

Indian Lake Lodge is located on the famous Indian Chain of Lakes, which is north of Vermilion Bay, Ontario and not far from the Manitoba border. From their lodge you have nine lakes to boat through. There is one special lake that is totally different than the others. When you enter Boulder Lake right away you will see a drastic change in structure. Next to it is Little Boulder Lake and both are deep rocky lakes and stuffed with Lake Trout. The thing about these lakes is not many people fish for Lake Trout because the Indian Chain of Lakes has a well known reputation for awesome Walleye and Muskie fishing. The guests that do fish for Lake Trout are very successful. The Lake Trout are most common in the 2 to 5 pound range. This water system is big enough to support good size Lake Trout up to 20 pounds. In the winter the trout are free so swim and feed and by spring they all travel back to Boulder Lake where in the summer they are concentrated. Indian Lake Lodge has cozy lakefront cottages that vary in size for small and lodge groups. They offer fantastic 18-foot fishing boat rentals with electric start motors and electric trolling motors. They also have fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Musky, Northern Pike and Perch.

McIntosh Lodge is a beautiful little family run lodge on famous Canyon Lake, which is north of Vermilion Bay and west of Dryden. There are a few Lake Trout in Canyon Lake but the lake does not have a viable Lake Trout population to target them. Fortunately, John is licensed to have boats on Gordon Lake, which is a rarely fished backcountry portage lake. Gordon Lake is a 200-foot deep little jewel that is just boiling with Lake Trout. The Lake Trout fishing is so spectacular that he has guests that stay at his camp and walk the short portage every day. Lake Trout are the dominant species in the lake and are common in the 1 to 5-pound range but tons of trout in the 6 to 12-pound range get caught and released. McIntosh Lodge has super nice lakefront housekeeping pine cabins with a beautiful main lodge for card playing or watching the big game on satellite TV. Their rates are very reasonable. You can always take a break from Lake Trout fishing and hit the fantastic Muskie, Walleye and bass fishing on Canyon Lake.

Murray Lake Cottages is located south of Missanabie and between Wawa and Chapleau, Ontario. They do have Lake Trout in their lake but they are not found in great numbers. However, they have boat caches on two remote backcountry Lake Trout lakes that have fabulous Lake Trout fishing. On these lakes you can easily catch between 10 and 20 Lake Trout per day. Most will be good eating size around 2.5 pounds but bigger ones do get caught. From Murray Lake you have boat access to Dog Lake, which has giant Lake Trout up to 30 pounds but it's a gigantic lake and the trout are harder to find. You will never see the numbers that you will see at the backcountry lakes. They have five lakefront housekeeping cabins that sleep between four and nine adults. They have two boat-to outpost camps on Loon Lake and Shikwamkwa Lake and both camps have fantastic fishing. Their rates are the best in Ontario. They also have fishing for Walleye, Northern Pike, Brook Trout, Smallmouth Bass and Perch.

Cozy Camp & Outpost Camps is located on the English River where ther are no Lake Trout but they have local outpost lakes with excellent fishing for Lake Trout and Brook Trout (Speckled Trout). Lake Trout come in all sizes from small pan fryers to trophy 20-pounders. Occasionally, much bigger Lakers are taken. They have boats on these lakes with maps of all the hot spots.

Merkel's Camp is located between Dryden and Dinorwic Ontario and on the north shore of Wabigoon Lake. There are no Lake Trout in Wabigoon Lake but there are lakes a few miles from camp that are stuffed with Lake Trout. They have 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom lakeside housekeeping cottages on Wabigoon Lake as well as an outpost camp on Little Basket Lake, which has fantastic Lake Trout fishing with Lake Trout between 1 and 6 pounds being common.

Crystal Beach Resort: Lakes in Atikokan are well known all over North America for having fantastic Lake Trout fishing. Crystal Lake is no exception with outstanding Lake Trout fishing for both good numbers and big trophy Lake Trout. Crystal Beach Resort is a family owned fishing camp with personal and friendly service. They offer beautiful, clean and comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price.

Carpenter Lake Cabins has good Lake Trout fishing. Their whole area is dotted with spring fed lakes, which is why they have a reputation for being one of the top Lake Trout camps north of Sault Ste. Marie. They also have ice fishing for Brookies & Lakers. They have really nice lakeside cottages. This is a small family resort with many activities and a great place to bring the whole family.

Hidden River Lodge is located on Whitefish Lake, which is part of the famous Michipicoten River System. The closest civilization is the tourist outpost town of Wawa, Ontario. Hidden Lake has great fishing for Lake Trout. They do occasionally get big ones but most are in the 1 to 6-pound range and are available in great numbers. The reason big ones are not caught is because there are too many Lake Trout in their lake. They have nice comfortable cabins and really nice boats and an extremely affordable price.

Birch Dale Lodge is located on Eagle Lake and between Dryden & Vermilion Bay and just south of Waldhof, Ontario. The lake is stuffed with Giant Lake Trout as well as good eating size Lakers. The northwestern end of Eagle Lake is the deepest part of the lake and where the best Lake trout fishing is. Lake Trout are common between 2 and 12 pounds. During a week targeting Lake Trout you should catch a trout in the 20-pound range. Lake Trout have been known to top 40 pounds on Eagle Lake. Their accommodations and rental boats are among the best in Northwestern Ontario. They also offer day-long fly-outs to trophy lakes for Lake Trout.

Eagle Eye Guiding is located on Eagle Lake in Northwestern Ontario. Lake Trout are common in the north end of the lake and are available up to 35 pounds and even bigger ones get caught.

Red Pine Lodge & Outpost Camps is located in the James Bay Frontier and in the heart of some of the best Lake Trout fishing in Ontario. Their main lodge is on the famous Ivanhoe Lake and not too far from Foleyet, Ontario. They have outstanding fishing for Lake Tout and Rainbow Trout. Lake Trout are common in the 1 to 4-pound range but tons of Lake Trout over 10 pounds get caught. They offer both lakeside cottages at their main camp and remote boat-to outpost camps and a fly-in outpost camp.

Four Seasons Guiding is a small and cozy family run outfitter on Big Pine Lake near Chapleau Ontario. They offer housekeeping cabins with good fishing for. There are other lakes within 10 minutes drive, which have great Lake Trout fishing.

Seine River Lodge is located near Atikokan Ontario and between Quetico Provincial Park and the White Otter Wilderness Preserve. They have great fishing for Lake Trout at the lodge with many lakes in the park which you can canoe and portage to with awesome Lake Trout fishing. They offer Housekeeping log cabins, camping, wilderness canoe trip outfitting and American Plan.

Vance's Resort is located at the mouth of the Spanish River and the North Channel, Lake Huron. They are south of Espanola Ontario. Vance's Resort has a great variety of excellent fishing. It's just a short boat-ride to Lake Huron where there is excellent Coho Salmon, Chinook Salmon (King), Rainbow Trout (Steelhead) and Lake Trout fishing. They offer housekeeping cottages and marina services.

Red Cedar Lake Camp is located Red Cedar Lake, which is north of North Bay and west of Marten River. The lake has spots that go over 100 feet deep and there is a healthy population of Lake Trout. Since nobody every fishes for them it hard to say how many you can catch but guests that do target Lake Trout usually get a few nice trout per day in the 2 to 7 pound range. Red Cedar Lake is a huge lake and is capable of producing Lake Trout over 30 pounds. Just a short drive from camp is Rabbit Lake where you can catch tons of good eating size Lakers. They have 11 lakefront cottages that sleep between 2 and 11 people. They offer American Plan and Housekeeping Plan with delicious home cooked meals served in their main lodge. They have fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout on top of being the best Northern Pike lake in the region.

Onaping Lake Lodge & Northern Wilderness Outpost Camp is located on Lake Onaping. Lake Onaping has Lake Trout in the deep clear-water areas at the south end of the lake and too far away from the outpost camps but just a short distance from the lodge. Lake Onaping is in the MNR stocking program. The lodge is located on the south-west shore and outpost cabins are located in various remote locations on Lake Onaping.

Happy Day Lodge Trout fishing lakes in the Chapleau area. What makes Windermere Lake unique and a top lake is the massive Lake Trout. Lake Trout over 20 pounds are caught on a regular basis with 25-pound and even 30-pound beingtrout caught throughout the summer. Happy Day Lodge is the only lodge on the lake. They have really nice lakeside cabins and boats.
